The Duncan Area Economic Development Foundation will host a Job & Career Expo on Thursday
March 29 at the Simmons Center in Duncan, Oklahoma. The Job Expo will take place from 7a.m.–12:30p.m. Beginning at 11:30a.m.
students with CO2 Cars will race for the $1,000 prize!
As our economy continues its positive upward climb, we strive to bridge the gap between employers and job seekers. A wide variety of employers will be present, and job descriptions and salaries will be available at most booths. Businesses will have the opportunity to promote awareness of their business and describe what they do.
This is a great opportunity for not only the unemployed but for the underemployed as well. It is possible that the best candidate for employment is the passive, skilled, well-qualified worker that is currently employed or possibly self employed. The Job & Career Expo's hours are conducive to the employed worker so that they can attend prior to work or at the beginning of their lunch hour.
In addition, seminars will take place throughout the day to assist individuals with getting a job, resume and interviewing skills, and information on becoming an entrepreneur or improving education/ training. Students will get to see what career options are available and the pay and education required for each job. Booth space is free to employers and a limited number of spaces are available.
We look progressively toward the future for a workforce that will have the skills necessary to keep our companies and community on track. Students in grades 9-12 within the Stephens, Jefferson and Cotton County school districts can compete in an Engineering Contest to win $1000, $600 or $300. Duncan Economic Development Engineering Competition encourages youth to design a CO2 dragster and race it on the 65 foot track the day of the Job Fair.
